Managers today are expected to lead across functions, influence without authority, manage competing priorities, and navigate complexity — often with limited preparation for the people-leadership realities of the role.
The gap isn't motivation. It's that people-leadership is a skill — and most managers step into it without ever having built it. That's not a soft skills problem. It's a preparation problem — and it's fixable.
I Lead Me strengthens the people side of the manager role through applied coaching and real leadership practice. Participants work on situations they are actively navigating — not hypothetical case studies — building practical leadership capability in real time, grounded in self-leadership and extended into how they lead others.
A clearer sense of how you lead — including how your style lands with others, and how it shifts under pressure or complexity.
Stronger communication — the ability to say hard things clearly, give feedback that sticks, and build trust without sacrificing directness.
Greater accountability and alignment on your team — knowing how to set clear expectations and follow through in a way that's consistent, not reactive.
More confident decision-making — especially in ambiguous situations where there's no obvious right answer and the team is watching.
The ability to lead across boundaries — influencing peers, partners, and stakeholders in other functions without relying on authority.
A sustainable approach to leadership — habits and tools that hold up over time, not just during the program.
I Lead Me is designed as a coaching-led leadership development experience, not a traditional training program. Every session is built around the real leadership situations you're navigating right now.
Every session — group and individual — is built around the real leadership situations you're navigating right now. You bring the challenge. The coaching conversation helps you think through it more clearly, decide more confidently, and act more effectively. This coaching-centered structure ensures the program remains grounded in real work, reinforces accountability, and supports the development of sustainable leadership habits over time.

At the core of I Lead Me is Energy Leadership™ — a methodology that helps leaders become aware of how they show up, how they lead, and how to lead with greater intention and influence.
Through the Energy Leadership Index™ (ELI) assessment and personalized debrief, you gain insight into the mindset driving your behavior, communication, and decision-making — particularly in moments of pressure or complexity.
By increasing awareness at this level, you expand your capacity to lead with greater composure and consistency — strengthening both how you lead yourself and how you lead others.
We design each group session to reflect the real-time challenges and priorities of the cohort. The topics below are examples of areas explored through both group sessions and individual coaching conversations — each participant applies the learning directly to their current leadership context. The final emphasis is always shaped by what the group brings into the room.
Most leadership development works on behavior. We work on the leader — going beyond role and responsibility to the core of what shapes how people lead. Self-leadership sits at the center: the foundation for presence, influence, and sustained impact.
We help leaders understand how their energy — how they show up, especially under pressure — shapes everything around them. When that shifts, alignment strengthens, influence expands, and performance follows.
NKL is a coaching-based leadership development practice partnering with organizations navigating growth, cultural shifts, and key transitions. We work across the United States and Europe and have supported more than 800 leaders across corporate, nonprofit, and higher education environments. anewkindof.org
